June 9 - Ex 24b, Instruments: Climbs, Descents and Turns
A little more instrument time today, as I once more found myself under the hood, this time doing Tatiana’s bidding by turning to various headings, and climbing and descending as instructed.
I was surprised how tempting it is to continue a turn beyond rate 1 (about 10 degrees), because it just “feels” so normal! It’s not until I see the little yellow needle tilted way past the correct notch on the attitude indicator, or hear my instructor yell, “Hey, TESCHOW!”, that I realise I am turning too steeply. Weird!
Anyway, we did some instrument time, then headed back to City to do a few circuits. Crosswind was as evident as my lack of ability to land elegantly in it, so we worked on that a bit, rudder, rudder, rudder I have to remember, along with the more obvious aileron into the wind!!!
